About NRCS Southeast Coastal Plain and Lower Mississippi River Valley Soil Survey Region

"MO–7" is short for MLRA Office 7. Quality assurance for mapping of the soils in the United States is conducted in 12 MLRA offices. The areas of responsibility for these offices are based on Major Land Resource Areas.  At MO–7, we are responsible for the Southeast Coastal Plain and the Lower Mississippi River Valley area.  Prior to October 2012, quality assurance was conducted at 18 MLRA offices. The 18 offices were consolidated to 12, and MO–15 was renumbered to MO–7.  The area that is the responsibility of the newly renumbered MO–7 includes most of the area that was previously the responsibility of MO–15 plus several new areas.

Our operations are directed by our business plan.

Our relationships with our cooperators are shaped by a Memorandum of Understanding.

We have a mission. We have a vision. We have a quality policy and guiding principles.

The United States can be divided into Major Land Resource Areas (MLRAs).

Our area of responsibility is based on the MLRAs in the Southeast and is divided between Soil Survey Area Offices.

There are 11 other MLRA-based Soil Survey Regional Offices in the United States.
