[A picture of a Barfield soil.]The Barfield series consists of shallow, well drained to excessively drained, moderately slowly permeable soils that formed in residuum from limestone. These soils are on nearly level to very steep uplands with medium to very rapid runoff. Slopes range from 1 to about 70 percent.

Taxonomic class: Clayey, mixed, active, thermic Lithic Hapludolls
