The Dothan series consists of very
deep, well drained, moderately slowly permeable soils that formed in thick beds
of unconsolidated, medium to fine textured sediments of the Coastal Plain. These
soils are on broad, nearly level to strongly sloping uplands. Slopes range from
0 to 12 percent. Near the type location, the average annual precipitation is
about 53 inches and the average annual air temperature is about 65 degrees F.
