[A profile of a Hannon soil.]The Hannon series consists of very deep, moderately well drained, very slowly permeable soils that formed in clayey sediments overlying stratified loamy and clayey materials and chalk. These soils are on ridgetops and side slopes on uplands of the Alabama, Mississippi, and Arkansas Blackland Prairie and Southern Coastal Plain major land resource areas. Near the type location, the average annual air temperature is about 63 degrees F. and the average annual precipitation is about
53 inches. Slope ranges from 1 to 25 percent.
