The Maubila
series consists of very deep, moderately well drained, slowly permeable soils
that formed in clayey marine sediments. These soils are on knolls, ridgetops,
and short, choppy side slopes on uplands of the Southern Coastal Plain. Slopes
range from 2 to 45 percent. Near the type location, average annual air
temperature is 63 degrees F and average annual precipitation is 53 inches.
