[A profile of a Nankin soil.]The Nankin series consists of very deep, well drained, moderately slowly permeable soils on marine terraces in the uplands. These soils formed in stratified loamy and clayey marine sediments. Near the type location, the average annual air temperature is about 65 degrees F and the average annual precipitation is about 50 inches. Slopes range from 0 to 60 percent.
