Quitman Soil

The Quitman series consists of
deep, somewhat poorly drained soils. Permeability is moderately slow. These
nearly level to gently sloping soils formed in loamy marine or fluvial sediment
on terraces and in uplands of the Southern Coastal Plain. A seasonal high water
table is within a depth of 1.5 to 2 feet for short periods during winter and
early in spring. Slopes range from 0 to 5 percent.
