[A profile of a Tallapoosa soil.]The Tallapoosa series consists of shallow, well drained, moderately permeable soils that formed in residuum weathered from mica schist. These soils are on narrow ridges and sideslopes of the Piedmont Plateau. Slopes range from 5 to 80 percent.

Taxonomic class: Loamy, mixed, semiactive, thermic, shallow Typic Hapludults
