solid layer of the planet. Soil is a naturally occurring mixture of mineral
and organic ingredients that interacts with nature to sustain life.

USDA–NRCS, partnering with Legacy, the Alabama Association of Conservation
Districts, and the Alabama State Soil and Water Conservation Committee, has come
out with an environmental educational poster. The poster features the soils
of Alabama, the five physiographic regions of the state (Highland Rim,
Cumberland Plateau, Valley and Ridge,
Piedmont Plateau, and the East Gulf Coast Plain) along with many interesting
facts about soil. The Soils of Alabama poster (22 1/2" x 31") will no doubt
be a resource aid in environmental education.
