The Proposed State Soil of Tennessee

[A profile of a Dickson soil, which is the Proposed State Soil of Tennessee.]Soils of the Dickson series are the proposed state soil of Tennessee

The Dickson soils consist of very deep, moderately well drained soils formed in a silty mantle 2 to 4 feet thick. Most occurrences of Dickson are on nearly level uplands. The Dickson soil is characterized by a firm and brittle fragipan that occurs 24 to 36 inches below the soil surface. The Dickson soils are classified as fine-silty, siliceous, thermic Glossic Fragiudults.
